Peter Ericson’s review published on Letterboxd :
Proficiently directed by Fatih Akin, the film is a wonderful, thematically rich, complex, subtle, compelling, and moving character study with a poignant message about repentance and redemption. All the cast members give impressive performances, with Nurgül Yesilçay standing out in her role as Ayten; the well-drawn, three-dimensional characters come across as real human beings. Original and unforgettable, the scene during which the closing credits appear is likely to keep the viewer in their seat until the very end. "The Edge of Heaven" lingered in my mind, and it was only later that I realized how deeply the film had affected me.
