Peter Ericson’s review published on Letterboxd :
This movie is an excellent depiction of life in a prison, a society within a society where different rules and conventions apply. "The Shawshank Redemption" shows us that there is hope even within the walls of a prison. Excellent cast and acting ensure that the characters are believable and that the viewer cares about them.
There are several things in this movie that reminds me of the TV series "Prison Break": one the main characters helps the prison warden and gets something in return, and the way that the same character disposes of the evidence of his digging activities. I suppose there are only so many ways some things can be accomplished inside a prison.
I think that the last scene, on the beach, is somewhat unnecessary and I could probably have lived without it. Other than that, there is little to complain about. "The Shawshank Redemption" is a rewarding movie to watch.
