Peter Ericson’s review published on Letterboxd :
The first time I heard about this movie was when I read Jason Kottke’s review. Because of that review I wanted to find out more about the movie and eventually see it. I have now seen "Touching the Void", and I agree with everything Kottke wrote in his review.
I would never have thought that a movie of this kind could be so interesting, exciting, and emotional, especially considering the fact that the viewer knows from the beginning how this movie ends. The movie is about so much more than just finding out how Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, the two mountaineers, managed to survive the arduous situation they suddenly found themselves in. It is also about their pain, feelings, thoughts, and actions to stay alive even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. It is about incredible endurance, what human beings are capable of in extraordinary circumstances.
"Touching the Void" is visually beautiful and the story it tells is amazing and inspiring, making this a captivating movie that should not be missed.
