Almost unbearably beautiful and achingly poignant, it manages to be a portrait of a town, an ode to cinema and a fascinating story. But above all, it feels like a story of loss; of the past and of all the glorious films made on such impermanent material as nitrate. In it's fleeting nature, we can find devastation. In it's implausible recovery, we find hope. A masterpiece.
