notstephtinsley’s review published on Letterboxd:
As a Black Latina woman who has lived in New York and has family from Uptown and The Bronx, this movie was a flat out disappointment to la raza. I refuse to believe that with all the money and resources they were given to produce this film, the casting director couldn’t find any Dominicans, Cubans, or Boricuas who were darker than the paper bag? In New York? This is what happens when you let someone who is not Latinx or even Caribbean direct our story for white audiences as if we fucking care. My mother simply laughed at the performative caucasity.
¿Cuál es la palabra para “coon” in español, porque Lin Manuel es eso?
