Lars von Trier is wildly unokay.
On the one hand, I wish the best for anyone who feels the need to make a movie like this, but on the other hand, where would we be without the beautiful art of wildly unokay people?
Drop your ideologies. Stop believing in things. If the things you believe in are grounded in any morsel of reality, they will go on existing without your belief in them. Politics, doctrines, convictions in general; stop hiding behind them and be human again. Please. Whoever you are, wherever you're at in life, be more human. I need humanity right now.
Following the advice of the Nerdwriter, I tried focusing on shot length and cuts by making a tally for every cut. This was an interesting film to try this out on, as cuts were clearly avoided as much as possible. I found that there were roughly 485 cuts, giving an average shot length of about 11 seconds. Also, no fancy camera angles or movements were used, and there were no scenes without either of the girls. All this together makes the viewer feel as if they were there in the world looking on upon Amanda and Lily, which created a unique feeling of suspense.
