Now Playing Podcast enters April 2021 with one goal in mind: to tire your ears out. The month will feature nine all-new episodes, including four 2021 debuts, a long-requested classic retrospective for donors, and a review of the former all-time box office champion.

Here’s everything coming to Now Playing Podcast in April 2021:

April 2- Magnum Force
The month begins with the second entry in Now Playing’s Dirty Harry Retrospective Series. Hitting screens in 1973, two years after Dirty Harry’s debut, Magnum Force finds Inspector Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) facing off with a “death squad” of vigilante cops; with a cast that includes Hal Holbrook, David Soul, Robert Urich, Tim Matheson, and Robocop’s Felton Perry as Callahan’s new partner. Magnum Force is available at the Silver Level of Now Playing’s 2021 Spring/Summer Donation Drive

April 6 – Godzilla vs. Kong
After a lengthy pandemic delay, the heavily anticipated matchup of the two monsters will finally hit HBO Max (and movie theaters) on March 31, with the Now Playing review to follow on April 6. Godzilla vs. Kong continues the show’s look at Legendary’s Monsterverse, as well as the King Kong Retrospective Series that began in 2020.

April 9 – The Enforcer
Clint Eastwood returned as “Dirty” Harry Callahan in 1976, and this time he’s up against a terrorist organization dubbed the People’s Revolutionary Strike Force. At the same time, Callahan is paired with a new partner, Cagney and Lacey’s Tyne Daly. Will she live long enough to see the end of the film? We won’t spoil it, but you should know that “Dirty” Harry didn’t have a great track record with partners.

April 13 – Monster Hunter
Now Playing intended to review Paul W.S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter in January, but with theaters closed and pandemic restrictions in place, it was delayed until every host could see the creature feature safely. Monster Hunter is the latest video game adaptation from director Anderson and wife/star Milla Jovovich, and follows a squad of soldiers that are transported into a world full of giant monsters.

April 16 – Titanic
April’s Podbean Patron exclusive episode takes Now Playing back to the winter of 1997, when James Cameron’s Titanic took over the world. The big budget disaster film had been predicted to be a disaster itself in the months leading up to its release, but we all know what happened next. You can hear the Titanic review and unlock dozens of Podbean exclusive episodes instantly when you become a monthly patron of $10 or more on Podbean

April 20 – Mortal Kombat
More than 25 years after we first heard the screams of “Mortal Kombat!!” on the big screen, Warner Bros. is bringing the video game franchise back for another round. The live-action reboot will debut on HBO Max and in theaters on April 16, with the Now Playing review to follow on April 20.

April 23 – Sudden Impact
“Dirty” Harry came back in the 80s, with Clint Eastwood returning to investigate a series of murders linked to the sexual assault of a woman and her sister. He also manages to kill a few more people in unrelated investigations. That’s just what he does.

April 27 - The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
The six-episode Disney Plus series gets the Now Playing treatment on April 27. The Falcon and the Winter Solider (streaming now) picks up after Avengers: Endgame and follows Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes as they go up against Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo and a group called the “Flag Smashers.”

April 30 – The Dead Pool
No, not Deadpool, The Dead Pool. Clint Eastwood came back for a fourth Dirty Harry sequel in 1988, and this one sees the cop pursuing a killer playing a real-life “dead pool” game with San Francisco celebrities, including Harry himself. The film is notable for an early appearance by Jim Carrey. Also, Liam Neeson’s there, with a ponytail.
