filmed theater variant on bruchner's woyzeck, centered around corporate deforestation of tribal forest lands - if nothing else you have to hand it to santosh sivan for going after one of the most commercially unviable propositions in 2017 hindi film. bruchner's odd, fragmentary play isn't exactly the sturdiest of narrative spines and i'm not sure sivan quite manages to find a compelling enough framework to structure it, but it's very interesting to see him work in this largely stage bound work (and stick to proscenium to this degree). if anything else reveals a skill at blocking somewhat lost in the more eccentric decoupage of his other films.
