Karimpin Poovinakkare ★★½

rural life as constant threat of violence and terror, the tall stalks of the sugarcane fields a blind for invisible threats of murder.

hard to shake the feeling that iv sasi was the wrong director for this - the shape of padmarajan's script seems to highlight the failure and destructiveness of his male heroes (and the horrific damage done to the women caught in their wake), but sasi can't help but treat them like masala heroes even in the final moments when everything should lead up to the opposite.
