Pournami ★★★★

i guess it should be no surprise that the second film by choreographer/director/dancer/sometimes star prabhu deva would find such potential in a dance based story (the interval fight between dance instructor prabhas and a villain who commands his own private orchestra, each winning or losing the fight as they take command of the rhythm, is one of the most interesting spins of the fight sequence i've seen in years).

what is very surprising is depth of feeling here, the old fashioned earnestness of its story about devotion, sacrifice, and star crossed romance. shot by great cinematographer venu with rich colors and a wonderful attention to detail; if devi sri prasad has a better score i haven't heard it...
