Blithe Spirit ★★★★

Amusing situation comedy examines the disconcerting results when the deceased first wife of a happily married man returns as a pesky spirit.

The play, a piece of light-hearted amusement written by Noel Coward, was adeptly transferred to film by David Lean, although Coward did not approve of the change Lean made to the ending.

The expert cast includes Rex Harrison, as the bedeviled husband, Constance Cummings, his exceedingly annoyed second wife, Kay Hammond, his ghostly first wife, and the very funny Margaret Rutherford, as Madame Arcati, spiritualist.
