ObscureHollywood.net’s review published on Letterboxd:
A surgeon (Pierre Brasseur) and his assistant (Alida Valli) attempt to restore the destroyed facial features of the doctor’s once-beautiful daughter. Their restoration method is to remove the skin from the face of a beautiful young woman and transplant the tissues onto the daughter’s face. The doctor is confident that the technique will succeed eventually, but he has had a few failures in the meantime.
A superior French horror film, directed by George Franju with understated depravity and revulsion.
