ObscureHollywood.net’s review published on Letterboxd:
Robert Newton sends writer Dennis Price to an isolated Alpine Chalet. Price is to report his observations of all people and events at the hostel. The people a the chalet include Herbert Lom, Mila Parely, Marcel Dalio, and Guy Middleton. Stanley Holloway, a photographer, accompanies Price. These people and Newton, once he shows up, are searching for gold that was buried in the vicinity by the Germans near the end of the WWII.
The film maintains suspense until the concluding scenes. By the end, however, only three members of the cast have survived, and various plot threads, mostly involving relationships and motivations, are never brought together into a satisfactory conclusion. They never do find the gold, and although Parely claims to know where it is, she refuses to reveal its location.
A cast of first rate actors is the main reason for watching this otherwise pointless film.
