Matt Hurt’s review published on Letterboxd:
12 Angry Men is stunning every time I see it. The performances are outstanding and the cast is stacked with an incredible ensemble.
Taking place almost entirely in a small room with no air conditioning on the hottest day of the year, Lumet guides the characters into ever increasing levels of discomfort and agitation. It works like gangbusters to draw us into the conflict and discussion that makes up the wonderful and powerful script.
The camerawork in 12 Angry Men is awe-inspiring as well. The movie is confined to a very small location with a cast of 12 men in every scene. I was mesmerized by the way the camera moves effortlessly through the space in every scene and how the movie easily tracks conversations and arguments happening almost simultaneously at different parts of the room. Seeing the story unfold, and the way the camera works to deliver us that story, is akin to watching a masterfully done magic trick.
