Matt Hurt’s review published on Letterboxd:
Fairly charming coming of age story with some interesting uses of Bruce Springsteen's music. The drama between Javed and his family is pretty standard coming of age movie fare and doesn't really break any new ground. Not that it necessarily needs to. The story is satisfying enough to carry the movie through some tropes and undercooked subplots.
But on the whole, Blinded by the Light never really drew me into Javed's journey and it failed to resonate in a lot of places for me. This is particularly disappointing because when it comes to emotional resonance in coming of age movies, I'm about as easy a target as you get.
Still, it's a passable enough coming of age drama.
