Matt Hurt’s review published on Letterboxd :
Rami Malek's performance as Freddie Mercury is Bohemian Rhapsody's biggest strength. Malek disappears into the role and gives Mercury a well-rounded portrayal.
The segments showcasing Queen's music are really well done and reminded me just how great Queen's music was. The movie also included a lot of information I didn't know about Queen or Mercury and told its story in an interesting and engaging way.
Even though I enjoyed the movie, the music, and the performance, Bohemian Rhapsody was still hampered by following the narrative beats of many a music biopic to come before it. I'm glad I saw it and I enjoyed it. But it didn't transcend the music biopic genre for me.
