Matt Hurt’s review published on Letterboxd:
Ultimately, Da 5 Bloods is a perfectly fine movie. Delroy Lindo's performance is without question the highlight of the movie. An incredible performance.
But the way Spike Lee incorporates breaks in the story to flash news footage of events of the era really makes the whole thing feel disjointed. I absolutely loved the way he ended BlacKkKlansman with footage of Charlottesville. But the way he overuses that particular technique throughout Da 5 Bloods just makes it all the harder to focus on the story.
The story doesn't flow that well as a a result. Though I did like the way it handled flashbacks.
It was fine.
