Matt Hurt’s review published on Letterboxd:
Didn't much care for this movie. The build-up to the monster reveal and destruction just wasn't enticing to me. The characters really did nothing for me and there wasn't much drama there. It was kind of fun and light-hearted, but I just wanted a lot more.
The first hour feels like a really lackluster riff on King Kong. The Mothra reveal and devestation lacks any real purpose or stakes, aside from wanting to save the fairies. But it's just not enough to get me invested.
The action is really cool, though. The use of models and rear projection was really satisfying. Using wind as a weapon for Mothra has a much more chaotic nature feel to it compared to Godzilla or Kong's brute force. I really liked that.
