Jeff Bauman's story is inspirational and worthy of telling. I appreciate the movie's candor with its depiction of Jeff's family and his mental struggles with his life after the Boston Marathon bombing. However, aside from a couple very strong moments of acting by Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany throughout the movie, there wasn't much in it that hasn't been done before in this type of movie.
I also couldn't get past the characters that make up Jeff's family. They're overly antagonizing and all the actors overdo the Boston accent just a little bit. They would have been more interesting if they were developed a little more and not so one-note.
