Matt Hurt’s review published on Letterboxd :
The chemistry between Redford and Spacek was the high point of The Old Man & The Gun for me. But the movie lost me by not telling its story too well. We're introduced to characters haphazardly, major characters don't have much of an arc (Casey Affleck kind of sleepwalks through his performance). Redford's character's backstory comes really late in the movie after I had already found myself giving up on getting any kind of emotional resonance out of the movie.
The story of Forrest Tucker is compelling but The Old Man & The Gun doesn't know how to tell it effectively.
