    The Jungle Book

While I didn’t enjoy Jungle book 2016 nearly as well as when I first watched it in the theatre, it’s definitely holds up as a solid adaptation that puts a unique spin on the classic story with a dramatic and action packed tone, while still staying true to the spirit of the 1969 film.

It’s also one of the few live action disney remakes that I actually found legitimately good. Which is kind of ironic when you consider that the director of this would go on to direct what’s considered the worst of them...

  • Paddington: The Man Behind the Bear

Paddington: The Man Behind the Bear

My favourite  part of the film was when J*ramy Cl*rkson talks about how Michael Bond was funny without being mean, which Clarkson thinks is “pretty hard to do”, and then cuts to Hugh Bonneville looking into the camera like it’s The Office.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Scott: *has this whole metaphor about how life is like driving and how those who stay on the road will be happy and successful and how those who go off it will be unhappy failures*

Poppie, by the end of the movie: *is in a boat with her GF, happy and at peace.*

Me, watching this movie with my mum and sisters:
    Poetic cinema...

  • Stardust

I’d like to formally apologise to my big sister and her gf for making them sit through this un-engaging, bland, heteronormative slog of a movie.

The only things that keep Stardust form being outright terrible are Captain Shakespeare and the darkly hilarious subplot with the princes. Apart form that, there are no reasons for me to revisit this any time in the future

  • Matilda

Am I the only one who thinks Miss Honey’s dad looks a lot like David Bowie?

  • Halloween

How funny would it be if Laurie was actually a lesbian and the only reason she told Annie she wanted to go to the dance with Ben-what’s-his-face was so she wouldn’t accidentally out herself. But then Annie set them up and it’s this whole hilarious Romcom misunderstanding and also Micheal Myers is there.

    The Last Halloween

This feels like a 90 minute cheesy 90s Halloween kids movie that got condensed into a 30 minute cheesy 90s Halloween special.

  • Garfield's Halloween Adventure

    Garfield's Halloween Adventure

The part where Garfield keeps going back for Jons food with the sound cue hitting every time he leaves killed me. 😂

  • Teeny-Tiny and the Witch Woman

    Teeny-Tiny and the Witch Woman

I watched this on a Halloween/horror animation playlist on YouTube, figuring it be a more tame spooky cartoon judging from the cutesy storybook style.

My god, was I wrong! Seriously, I was legitimately taken off guard by how much frear-induceing atmosphere was poured into this short.

The avant-garde music that plays throughout, the erily calm and hypnotic voice of the narrator, the whole stranger danger concept of three children getting lost in dark woods and being taken in by a…

    Betty Boop's Hallowe'en Party

Betty is just so iconic in this. Invites a living scarecrow and a bunch of bears to her Halloween party... makes jack o lanterns with speeds I could only dream of... fights off a friggsn ogre while in a fur suit... God, I wish that were me on Halloween!
