Wong Kar-Wai’s “Chungking Express” and “Fallen Angels” are two of the most emotionally powerful, well edited masterpieces I’ve ever seen. I prefer “Fallen Angels” of the two because I feel like he’s refined his style, storytelling and writing even more. Both films tell of people in Hong Kong falling in love, occasionally influencing each other without knowing.
These two films have some of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard in a movie. The action scenes are so fun, fast and badass, you’d swear Quentin Tarantino directed it. These are also two of Tarantino’s favorite movies and it’s not hard to tell why. Definitely check these out, they’re both amazing and start with “Chungking Express”, as they are kind of linked.
