Finally decided to watch this movie, and I’ve been missing out so much. There’s literally nothing I dislike in this movie besides the slow pacing. Beautiful cinematography, amazing score from Hans Zimmer, great acting, and overall great story. Ryan Gosling never disappoints. Perfect sequel to a perfect movie, Blade Runner (1982).

Still Scorsese’s best film and the best crime film.

I saw this last week and I simply couldn’t think of any words to speak about it. I still don’t but this’ll have to do.

What makes a bicycle thief. What has to happen for one to become a bicycle thief. How far must we be pushed to become a bicycle thief? How long before we become what we hate? What gives us the right to make judgement on others? Where does the line of morality cross?

    Bicycle Thieves is…

    "It's funny, but it's true
And it's true, but it's not funny"

In The Devil and Daniel Johnston, there's an striking lack of voice-over, there's no narrator. The archival images and sounds are just merely complementary (but also insightful).
What it does is that it let's the its characters move the narrative forwards instead.
And the film cares about the people.
The film ends with a few thoughts from Daniel's parents followed by a video of him dancing.
    It doesn't…

I can't even stress the amount of joy PTA's films give me.

Just perfect, perfect in every way. I agree that whoever invented the word chic should be spanked in public.

An obvious contemporary of Lars Von Trier. An emotionally volatile and brutal film that doesn't let up for a single second from beginning to end. The way the director is able to sustain the film's energy for so long is really quite impressive. Not an easy watch, but one I'm glad to have made it through.

The 4K restoration is incredible. So good seeing this movie in theaters since the when I first saw it back when it came out. This movie is built for theatres.

Check my other reviews for my thoughts on the film overall.

    Darren Carver-Balsiger

    ★★★★ Watched by Darren Carver-Balsiger 08 Aug 2020 9

Coonskin may be transgressive, but it is actually brilliant and genuinely artistic. Coonskin subverts terrible iconography to celebrate and exaggerate black culture. It is a provocative satire on society, and the social ills of racism and class that affect so many. Yes, Coonskin is offensive on the surface, but there is something very interesting, worthwhile, and righteous when examining the subtext and context. Power structures are shown to be after more power, with whites still profiting from religion and revolution.…

A great movie if you want to see Paul Dano get fucking obliterated, Hugh Jackman shout a lot and Jake Gyllenhaal aggressively blink  for 2 hours 33 minutes

    ★★★½ Watched by CinemaCl🎃wn 15 Jun 2022

A rigorously crafted & intimately narrated feudal epic that's truly ambitious in scope, Kagemusha is memorable for its striking use of colours, era-appropriate set pieces & large-scale battle formations and also benefits from its interesting protagonist but the stillness of its plot, inconsistent pacing & daunting runtime does make the ride a bit tedious & overlong.

Co-written & directed by Akira Kurosawa, the script features a fascinating premise which the esteemed auteur brings to life in broad brushstrokes & vivid display of technical craftsmanship. And though…

you cannot convince me that this was animated. we’ve achieved a peak perfection of photorealism here, live action is no longer necessary.

Wow, what an anime! Berserk 1997 had a lot to offer: action, terror, sadness, and even slight joy.

The animation well grimy is well done from establishing shots of the world, to bloody action scenes. The soundtrack was also a nice touch. The characters were very well developed and you felt connected to them; making a certain scene towards the end even more tragic. Overall a solid anime series.
