The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

This colorful 80s sludge has a bit of every genre, everything, and, for Buckaroo, every job. Seriously, this guy being a surgeon/rock star/test pilot/comic book hero was like me as a kid when I wanted to be an actress/author/scientist/cartoonist/ballerina/Steve Irwin type. This fun, messy flick could have been made by a kid with its slime, arcade games in a psych ward, aliens, and some guy named BigbootΓ©. For added fun, we've got cowboy Jeff Goldblum for the world to thirst…

Ok, I know it's a pretty messy film with a lot of parts that don't make sense, but it's so much fun, you don't care - especially if you like satire, cult film absurdity, and camp, like me.

    1. When you actually enjoy both flips of the coin (serious TCM 1 & comedic TCM 2)
    2. The "killer" soundtrack

    4. Dennis Hopper playing another insane…

    Reasons to watch this film:

    1. Nick Cave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    2. Cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    3. Also, quite exquisite animation
    4. It's surprisingly terrifying

I had no idea what this was about going in. All I knew was that Nick Cave (mi amor) was the narrator. The film is actually pretty scary. If you are quite sensitive about animal cruelty (which I am so I did a lot of gasping and making ugly upset faces during a part or so), you may or may not want to see this film. Luckily, it is only animated and it has a happy ending. It is a pretty good short film.
