    i’ve always been a huge fan of the slow burn psychological thriller, but ‘in the tall grass’ fails to deliver something substantial or unique. while the plot is promising, there’s no way of actually getting invested with the characters or their emotions because of the film’s reliance on trying to ‘mind fuck’ the audience. attempts at exploring things like time loops, fate, and horror are muddled by redundancy and a lack of actual horror; however, the scene with Becky’s baby…

    the movie literally embodies the basic premise of an LSD trip gone horribly wrong. the opening interview scenes work in drawing in a reader and establishing a sense of normalcy and desperation in the dancers all at once, quickly contrasted by the first dance scene that does its job in mesmerizing the viewer and demonstrating a strange sort of ‘controlled’ chaos before shit hits the fan. A lot of great shots and stills, although some are ruined by a few choices in regards to the lighting and composition of some of those moments.
