Love Greta Gerwig but this just felt a little false to me. The problems these characters create...hell, even these characters feel alien in a way. Not that these issues don't exist, rather their reactions to said issues; the way they propose to scheme their way out of life's troubles felt ridiculous and nonsensical. The humor also didn't really vibe with me, I felt like the film kept switching wavelengths; and nothing really felt sold. Characters that were presented as intellectuals are literally only shown to intellectuals through their career. Their actions don't seem to match up. It's vanilla film-making, the most prototypical example of an urban, indie dramadey I've seen. The characters are cartoonish and the story is badly told, plain and simple. It's all rather pointless.
