Just as I lost faith in the franchise, this film arrives to redeem it. It's certainly brutal, violent, dark, what you're looking for in a good slasher. It also has its stupid and ridiculous moments, especially most dialogues, however, this is something you already expect in this genre of movies.
This prequel to the 2003 remake elevates the character and his family into truly evil beings, where at times they manage to scare you. I think it was a step in the right direction of the franchise, it hurts that the movies that followed were rubbish. Without a doubt, the second best in the franchise.
