  - really adept at creating a eerie+mesmerizing vibe, but the actual themes being communicated through the imagery are pretty blunt (or rather, simplified). in this sense i can now understand its influence on the room
  - i appreciate that this makes marge much more sympathetic (not that the highsmith novels i've read so far set a particularly high bar for women characters). PSH also turns a totally unremarkable character into a molotov cocktail in, what, 10 minutes of screentime?
