Scorpio Rising

Scorpio Rising ★★★★

Super influential (looking at you DRIVE and GOODFELLAS), subversive, and artistic. It's a broad statement on a lot of things - cults, religion, homosexuality, repression, nazism, motorcycles - all blended into one short film that's rife with energy and perfectly timed and synced '60s pop songs. It doesn't come off as harrowing now as it did fifty years ago, with Kenneth Anger's sense of humor more easily understandable. It's definitely the vicious sort, but it's hard not to laugh.
