  Hmm. This is a tough one. There is a lot to admire here - the gorgeous black and white cinematography, the incredible two lead performances (Zendaya is one of those very few actors whom I would happily watch just read the phone book, and John David Washington has never been better), the blocking and camera movement, etc... but it's really hard to get past the screenplay which just feels like some half-baked juvenile musings someone right out of film school…
