♫ mmm mmm mmm mmm, mmm mmm mmm ♫
Was not prepared at all for how much it would destroy me this time around; it becomes unwatchable with familiarity because of how sadistically it lingers on total helplessness. It's such precise and calculated filmmaking that each tiny detail is enunciated so as to create a cinematic world more convincing and moving than pretty much any other. What struck me the hardest was the moment when Wendy changes her clothes in the public toilet after the bag incident and breaks down crying while holding the wall - she realizes that only between four dirty shitty walls is she safe from harm and external threat: prison becoming the only shelter. I covered my eyes and hoped it would end. Fucking Kelly Reichardt. Fuck off.
