Malignant ★★★½

I think James Wan is a very talented director, but I've always been a bigger fan of his non-horror movies (especially DEATH SENTENCE), and I'm not really into the ghosty kinda stuff he gravitates toward. So I was so delighted to see that this starts out as a more off-kilter version of his usual type of horror and then turns delightfully insane when it reveals what's going on and then takes you for a type of ride you don't expect out of any horror movie. Bonus points for the fake Seattle setting and the weird HIGHLANDER reference.
