Cannibal Holocaust

Cannibal Holocaust ★★★★

Well, it had to happen eventually I guess, and today it finally did. I watched Cannibal Holocaust! For such a long time I have been intrigued by the cannibal subgenre, but the animal cruelty aspect kept me at bay. It was time to toughen up however. It helped immensely of course that Michelle was (virtually) holding my hand.

Man, this really is quite something, isn't it!? Cannibal Holocaust is without a doubt the essence of what exploitation cinema is about. It's not just because of the animal stuff either, but also because of the way (the indigenous) people were treated and portrayed. It was all just so cruel. Yet, somehow I was still able to watch all it, viciousness and all.

The gore was awesomely goopy and I adored the magnificent Riz Ortolani score.

I am glad I watched it.
