The Mischief Makers

The Mischief Makers ★★★½

Truffaut captures summer and my own early teen memories of the French countryside perfectly. The story is at once slight and full of the things that would concern Truffaut for the rest of his career, adults looking back on childhood actions with a wistful remove rather than real regret, boys growing up. It's not fully formed, of course it's not but it has a beautiful lost summer feel.
