    Re-watch in the "new" 2.39:1 aspect ratio as preferred by Wong Kar Wai. I was worried that in scope, the film would look too stretched out but in fact it worked perfectly, giving a wide-angle feel that seems to suit this movie quite well (and it does now seem like the definitive version of Fallen Angels).     Jolly good WWII picture (actually filmed during the war), set in The Netherlands, a country I know well and respect highly. Interesting to note the involvement of David Lean and Ronald Neame in this production.

    I decided to watch this tonight to honour the passing of the great Sidney Poitier (may he rest in peace), but to be honest, I wasn't sure I was in the right mood for it.
