Been a good bit since I’ve watched this— Teller and Woodley are so perfect together on screen and the supporting cast all provide respectable contributions.
Something I noticed this time around that I hadn’t really taken note of before (as I said, it’s been a while) is how beautifully lit this film is. I was entranced by so many shots. It’s actually one of the movie’s primary strengths that make it stand out among the rest of the indie coming of age tales we’ve all become so familiar with.
Strong filmmaking elements including and especially elegant lighting and phenomenal acting chemistry infused into a seemingly familiar high school love story is what makes The Spectacular Now shine. Worth watching again and again.
