Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory ★★★★½

Even though it's not following the book by Roald Dahl exactly word to word, what it improvises turns to gold. The 1st movie to fill me with wonder and imagination. The movie has soul, and it teaches all of us very important lessons while having fun in the process. Willy Wonka (Played by Gene Wilder) made me believe that he was an eccentric chocolate maker, but under that facade is a man who is getting tired of making chocolate all the time and wants to move on with his life. Doing nothing but make candy for all the little kids in the world for 20 something years at the least, but never really making himself happy. It's pretty sad to think the only people he has been talking to for a long time is the Oompa Loompas. Of course the movie doesn't really focuses on his pain, it's something that was hidden from all the fantasy surrounding this flick. You know the story, 5 tickets for 5 kids, and the one kid who wants it the most is at the most disadvantageous position ever, being poor and all. But he gets the ticket eventually after the grim reality of being a kid with no money. At least his family is there for him, and that's better than money, cars, and bitches combined any day. The whole movie is a wondrous blend of drama, fantasy, and a musical blend together to form one of the most memorable movies of all time. A timeless classic that everyone will enjoy.
