the ten seconds in this that woody attempts to sing and ends up mumbling through the song and then just cutting away is surreal

loved it - reminded of flaubert, every image yells its impact and constantly reframes the relationship of its subject to its environment to create a real duplicitious portrait of a character.  this is a stylically and aesthetically motivated film, thus ahead of its time.
