Middle of Nowhere ★★★★

Although charming enough, Middle of Nowhere initially seems like just another run-of-the-mill coming-of-age stoner comedy. But a couple of character revelations about half way through transform it into something rather touching and heartfelt, and at the heart of it yet again, as I've noticed in films watched recently, is a really endearing performance from Anton Yelchin, ably supported by the rest of the cast.

It does, on the odd occasion, devolve into minor clichés of the genre but redeems itself with a slightly subverted and totally lovely ending.
