Patrick Jr.’s review published on Letterboxd:
"First Starbucks, then Dunkin' Donuts. Of course Dunkin' Donuts makes the better coffee. Starbucks is the smart coffee for dumb people. It's the Christopher Nolan of coffee."
-B. Rosenberg (Antkind, Charlie Kaufman)
In all seriousness, TENET is an laudable addition to the spy genre. It is exhilarating. Nolan continues to push himself into this incorruptible and honest purveyor of original ideas. You should absolutely expect a gratuitous action film, but the culmination of every explosion, punch, kick, one-liner, and villainous glare felt consequential.
I couldn't stop smiling throughout this movie and as I sat down to write down these thoughts, I could not even muster any aversion, or disdain about this film. I loved it.
...Or maybe it's just because I haven't watched a blockbuster film in over a year.
Note: I did not mention the plot, at all. It will be confusing and it is worth it to read about 5 mins worth about inversion beforehand, if not, you'll just have to think a little bit more as they try to explain how it works.
