2015: The Year Mudpunk Broke

Coined by Richard Brody in his New Yorker review of Hard to Be a God, "mudpunk" refers to specific kind of cinematic scuzz: spears poking bare asses, filthy men puking in gutters, blood and shit and piss streaked muckscapes. Period movies reveling in the primitiveness of their settings. A time before medicine and science and common sense made life less harsh for us modern jabronis. Smell the dirt and grime caked beneath your fingernails.
