    Ford v Ferrari

James Mangold films just scream out B A M F. There were so many moments I wanted to just get up from my seat and cheer as Bale and Damon performed at break-neck speed. I didn't expect it to steal the show at TIFFβ€”I know nothing about racing or cars for that matter. I'm just a sucker for the way Mangold gets my heart and soul jumping out of my body whilst making my eyes well up.

Ford V FerrariΒ takes the cake as my favourite of the festival!!

  • Prisoners

This is probably the best form I've seen Hugh Jackman in, and on top of an already stellar cast too! It's also only the second film I've seen by Denis Villeneuve, but oh boy does he continue to impress.Β

Prisoners is as relentless as how far Keller is willing to go for his daughter. It's as dreadful as the looming score that seems to intensify while the movie progresses.Β It'll make your skin crawl throughout and it's climactic finish will make your jaw dropβ€”aΒ butt clencher of a film.

I don't think I've seen love/marriage/divorce, etc so well articulated before. I also didn't expect to spend my Friday night sobbing at a laptop screen, but we out here.

    Eighth Grade

Eighth Grade is as genuine and heartfelt as Josh Hamilton's character himself. I think anyoneβ€”from teens and adults alikeβ€”can sympathize with Kayla and her who's-better-than-who world. It's sharp humour, perfect lead and simple, yet visually appealing style make it a coming of age film that stands out from all the rest.

Mr. Burnham, you're a freakin' genius.

    Uncut Gems

So who do you think would win in a fight... Ben Wallace or Tony Allen?

As they did with Good Time,Β leave it to the Safdie brothers to hurl balls of anxiety at you. Especially with Adam Sandler's added comedic talents, I loved everything about it. And c'mon you can't go wrong including KG as a focal point in the film's plot. Shout outs Celtics fans!
