The film isn't bad, but the problem is that the plot reminded me too much of Torrente, the Dumb Arm of the Law (Segura, 1998).

The verb echar throws the aitch out of the window.

If there is one thing that saves the film, it is that its script makes it entertaining. Even Victoria Abril's performance is not as striking as we are used to.

Although it has sublime direction and spectacular performances, what stands out most is how well it conveys the transition from silent to sound films.

Honestly, I would love for everyone to be a film buff to fully understand the picture, as it requires a prior knowledge of the moment on screen to completely appreciate it.

From Singin' in the Rain (Donen, Kelly, 1952) to Sunset Boulevard (Wilder, 1950), from Clara Bow to John Gilbert, from Erich von Stroheim to Dorothy Arzner; Chazelle once again gives us a host of tributes and messages that we will always be grateful for.

Great as it could be. Blanche DuBois reminded me a lot of Norma Desmond, does that count as a spoiler?
