Lately most of my movie-watching time has been done with my kids. This week, for our usual Sunday evening "Dylan Family Movie Night," Eva (who is 9-years-old) chose The Sound of Music. This is at least the third time that I can think of that's she's chosen this movie for Family Movie Night.
I let my 10-year-old stay up late with me last night and watch this movie. She'd never seen a Wes Anderson film before. I can't explain what a treat it was to watch her giggle with joy and delight throughout. Being a parent is incredibly frustrating and a pain in the ass a lot of the time, but there are few greater experiences in life than the vicarious pleasure you get when introducing something wonderful to your kid.
