Point Blank is a lean and taut revenge thriller as well as an incredibly disorientating one! Right from the beginning it hits you with cross cuts and parallel time frames that reminds me of Soderbergh's The Limey, of which this film was surely an influence. This editing style is the distinctive quality that makes Point Blank an interesting watch. Alas I was pretty depressed whilst watching the movie so wasn't as involved in the film as I would have liked to have been. Lee Marvin is of course a great tough guy actor and it's great that he got a chance to be a lead actor after years of supporting roles in films such as The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and Violent Saturday. He is often silent in this film, violent of course but haunted by bad memories. It's often hard to know what his actual motivation is, because it certainly isn't the money. Anyway I need to re-watch it when I'm in better mental condition. Pointless in trying to make any sense of it now.
