I love coming-of-age movies and this one just happens to have Spiderman or, you know, the first superhero I ever loved, as its protagonist.
I have many thoughts on various aspects of the movie and I couldn't possibly know where to start. Maybe with how much I loved that they sorta downplayed the ~impact of the whole 'Peter is a nerd and therefore an outcast' thing. Like, sure, he gets called a loser, but he doesn't /see/ it as The Worst Thing Ever. Nerd culture is pretty much pop culture now, so that story hardly has the same effect as it did some decades ago. Peter's simply as awkward as the next teenager. That's all.
Anyway, Peter Parker trapped under that building and having to believe in himself in order to get up and finish his transition towards truly becoming Spiderman... Two thoughts: 1) Give Tom Holland an Oscar (or at least put his name on it and set it aside in a safe place) and 2) It may just be one of my most favourite scenes of anything ever. Way to make me cry my heart out. I wouldn't have it any other way.
