It’s finally here and it’s glorious. I’ve followed Eternals for awhile and the hype has been insane for so long. I’m happy to say that I enjoyed what I saw! The movie is filled to the brim with lore but I expected that and I found it cool. The cgi was fine to me as I don’t see the point in hyperfocusing on the heavy use of cgi in marvel movies, feels pointless. I spent the movie with a generally good understanding of what I was seeing and that was enough. The fight scenes were really cool to me and felt well balanced with the more dialogue focused stuff.
There’s a lot this movie tries and do and succeeds in doing. There’s things it doesn’t but the heart behind the attempt makes up for it. Chloe Zhao has made an ambitious and thoroughly entertaining movie that feels like someone who cared put excessive amounts of thought in it. I understand most of the critiques surrounding this movie but my personal pros outweigh the cons. All in all, this was a really good movie in my opinion. Go see it yourself and ignore what that aggregate said. Unless you have a tendency to dislike being greatly overwhelmed by the grandness of a film because oh boy, you’re in the wrong place.
