Parallel Mothers

Parallel Mothers ★★★★½

Almodovar continues to develop and surprise as an artist. A huge chunk of the plot is the domestic melodrama very typical of his previous works, but the subplot concerning the mass grave of the opposition to Franco and how it intertwined and reflected the main plot is truly special. Also - it's great to see Almodovar bring out the best performances from his favourite collaborators. Last time it was Banderas, this time - Cruz. Really special.
