I think the last time I watched this I was in elementary school so honestly I didn’t remember any of this. This is definitely the weakest link in the 80s iconic slashers.

I had no idea how much the Insidious series basically copied this entire movie until now.
The beginning was a bit slow even for a horror movie but I enjoyed the tone that it set. There were certain lines where my friends and I said out loud "that's iconic" given this movie being such a cult classic at this point.
Having seen Scary Movie 2 prior to watching this I couldn't help but laugh at certain parts because I knew how they were parodied in it.
I looked up every character's zodiac sign while watching this movie and somehow the entire franchise makes so much more sense now. What doesn't make sense is how J.K. Rowling wrote a story like this that has so many parallels to real world struggles that minority groups around the world face while also being a transphobic bitch.
J.K. didn't write the series, she was simply a figurehead (I'm telling myself this both to invalidate her work and also to cling to the little bit of childhood I have left thanks to this series.)
I truly cannot even describe in words how Yorgos Lanthimos movies make me feel. They are truly art in every aspect, from the set/costume design to the cinematography.
With regards to the cinematography, there was one technique in particular that was used that blew me away and made the entire set look as though it was on a rotating stage and the camera was the one staying in one place, absolutely incredible. I haven't stopped thinking about it.
I made the mistake of taking an edible when I started this movie. As it was hitting me harder and harder, Robert De Niro's character, Travis Bickle, began spiraling further and further out of touch from reality.
