Paul Thomas’s review published on Letterboxd:
Too reliant on nods and winks to the original that it forgets to be an actual movie. The humor is insepid and the film has little of its own voice. It's just a connect-the-dots of nostalgia to please reddit threads.
Jason Reitman promised Easter eggs in this movie to the original, and if by Easter eggs, he meant the same things that happened in the original happening again in this one, then yes, be on the watch for "Easter eggs".
I don't worship the original, so perhaps to diehard fans this may be what you need. But to me, it felt soulless.
